Mahila – beat officers play an important role in curbing crime and criminals by establishing communication with women in the village. Not only this, but she is also making women aware about the schemes and programs being run by the Government for the welfare of women. Shakti Mobile is also formed to prevent crimes related to women across the state, which is taking legal action against the criminals with the counselling of victim’s family.
The Jal Police is an important part of Ayodhya Police which is deployed at strategic locations along the riverbank, especially at bathing ghats and other areas where people are likely to congregate. They are equipped with boats and other necessary equipment to respond to emergencies and rescue people in distress. They are also used to create awareness about water safety and discourage people from engaging in risky activities in the river.
Parivaar Paramarsh Kendra is a unit of Ayodhya Police which provides counselling on family matters. In this centre, counselling is done in cases like rift between husband and wife, domestic violence, dowry and women harassment. In family counseling centres, family disputes are resolved with mutual harmony by forming a sub-committee consisting of social workers, representatives of local administration, police, free legal aid cell, and other voluntary organizations.
The AHTU is an integrated task force to prevent and combat trafficking in persons and is constituted by a group of trained sensitive officials of the Police , people from the Women and Child welfare department of the State, and includes reputed local NGOs. The AHTU attends to all the three aspects of trafficking viz, prevention, protection and prosecution. They also develop databases on traffickers, network with all concerned agencies as and when required. The AHTU will thus be the field level functional unit to address human trafficking in a holistic manner and thereby address the existing gaps in the law enforcement response to trafficking and serve as the institutional mechanism for combating the crime, working across all the stakeholders i.e. police, prosecution, rescue, NGOs etc. They will help to enhancing cooperation between law enforcement agencies, concerned government departments and NGOs who have the expertise and capacity to assist trafficked victims byq institutionalizing this cooperation.
